Multiscale nonlinear mechanics
Research Overview
I am interested in multiscale mechanics spanning from nanoscale phenomena to nonlinear behaviors of flexible structures. In my research, atomic-scale deformation mechanisms are investigated through computational tools including First-Principles Calculations and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. My current focus extends to modeling nonlinear phenomena in flexible structures (rods, ribbons, shells) undergoing finite deformations, with emphasis on buckling instabilities, bifurcation patterns, and post-critical behaviors. These mechanical models ultimately serve the goal of inverse material design, targeting functional systems such as architectured materials, shape-morphing materials, and active soft robotics.

Mr. Jiahao Li is currently a PHD student at University of Science and Technology of China, CN. He received his B. Eng. degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China (2018.09 - 2022.07).
